The 2027 edition of Sibiu Cybersecurity Dialogues represents the natural evolution of a journey that began several years ago and gained significant momentum with the 2026 edition. As cybersecurity has become inseparable from geopolitics, economic security and technological innovation, the conference is expanding its perspective to reflect the realities shaping Europe and the Balkans today.
Recent conflicts have demonstrated that cyber operations, conventional warfare, artificial intelligence, disinformation, economic coercion and attacks against critical infrastructure are no longer separate challenges. They have become interconnected dimensions of a single strategic environment.
The war in Ukraine has reshaped Europe’s security architecture and reinforced the strategic importance of NATO’s Eastern Flank and the Black Sea region. Across Europe, governments and businesses are adapting to a new era characterised by geopolitical competition, technological disruption and increasing geo-economic fragmentation.
For the Balkans, these developments represent both challenges and unprecedented opportunities.
