// Origin story
Born from a UN call for cyber awareness
ITU · 2015
“Best practice example for the European Continent.”
Awarded in the journal's very first year. The ITU has written a permanent section in every issue ever since.
In March 2015, answering a call from the United Nations through the ITU — the UN agency in charge of global cybersecurity coordination — the Romanian-Swiss NGO Swiss WebAcademy launched Cybersecurity Trends together with AGORA, Romania's leader in IT media.
The brief was bold: a quarterly awareness journal built as a Public-Private Partnership, neutral and non-commercial, delivered free online to the widest audience possible. Almost by accident, it became the first journal of its kind where State institutions, analysts, academics and security companies share the latest threats — and how to stop them.
Since its birth, Europe's top specialists have written for it, and the UN has backed it every step of the way.
