Securing the Balkan mosaic
The CyberSecurity Dialogues grew from a local and national policy and awareness initiative into a regional convening platform, in step with the maturity of Southeast Europe’s security agenda and its ambitions for Euro-Atlantic integration.
Romania — and Sibiu in particular — plays an increasingly vital role as a regional hub for cybersecurity and hybrid-threat coordination, multilateral dialogue, policy development and private-sector engagement in cyber defence.
Facing hybrid threats — from cyberattacks and critical-infrastructure vulnerabilities to regulatory disruption and disinformation — the two-day forum brought public and private actors from across the Balkans together to strengthen resilience through shared regulation (NIS2, DORA).
The edition also put a gender perspective at the heart of security policymaking, challenging the biases built into ICT and AI systems and highlighting the women taking on leadership roles in cybersecurity across the region.
