From VUCA to BANI
The world we operate in is on the move. The volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous (VUCA) world that described the last decade has had its day. It is being replaced by a Brittle, Anxious, Non-linear, Incomprehensible (BANI) world — and the stakes have never been higher.
The Internet of Things and its industrial extension widened the threat surface for targeted and untargeted attacks. Quantum computers threaten to break today’s encryption. AI and machine learning took the front stage on both sides of the cyber arena, and ChatGPT showed the world what deep learning could do next.
Cybersecurity is not just about technology — it is also about people’s awareness. It demands a continuous evolution of business mindset and culture, with ongoing vigilance and adaptation to new risks and threats.
Are we prepared to face the consequences of our inaction? The 9th edition asked what companies and institutions need to know about today’s trends and vulnerabilities — and why a proactive, holistic approach built on risk assessment, vulnerability management and incident response is the way to stay ahead of the curve.
