Olga DEMIAN is a Legal Advisor with over 24 years of experience, including 15 years in law applicable to technology and a strong commitment to data protection compliance.
In her most recent role – Data Protection Officer (DPO) for MyData-Trust clients – Olga has facilitated compliance with EU data protection legislation by performing tasks incumbent on DPO and Data Protection Manager for over 10 multinational companies from the lifescience industry. Previously, she had provided comprehensive legal advice, developed legal policy documents, built capacity and raised awareness in the field of data protection and information security to organisations, from both public and private sectors.
Furthermore, in her capacity as a Legal Consultant, Olga contributed to digital transformation in the public sector in several countries, including several EaP States. For instance, as a Team Leader, she led the EU project on the development of e-services (incl. e-commerce) in Azerbaijan. She conducted in-depth legal analyses and provided strategic legal advice to align the applicable legislation (e.g. cybersecurity, data protection, interoperability, open governance, eIDAS, reuse of public sector information) with EU standards in Georgia and Moldova. She also conducted in-depth legislative analyses and provided strategic legal advice aimed at aligning the legislation applicable to interoperability with EU standards in Macedonia. She achieved projects’ objectives by performing tasks such as research, analyses, planning, drafting legal documents, managing projects, communicating with stakeholders and acting as a keynote speaker. Olga’s contribution led to the alignment of laws applicable to digital transformation with EU standards and implementation of projects reflected in the digital transformation Agendas. She performed these tasks on behalf of several organisations (e.g. UNDP, CoE, EU, OSCE, e-Governance Academy from Estonia) directly of through companies (e.g. Transtec S.A., B&S Europe S.A., Cantor Management Consultants S.A.).
At the beginning of her career, Olga contributed to significant litigation before the European Court of Human Rights, representing victims of human rights violations from Russia and Ukraine. She also managed a large portfolio of strategic litigation cases which resulted in landmark rulings, improved human rights protection and provided monetary compensations for victims.
Olga’s credentials include a Data Protection Officer (DPO) Certification (ECPC-B DPO) from the “European Centre on Privacy and Security, Maastricht University”, earned in 2024; Statement of Accomplishment to certify completion of the “Data Protection and Privacy Rights” course of Council of Europe, earned in 2025; Statement to certify completion of course “GDPR Compliance for Life Sciences” of MyData-Trust, earned in 2023; and a Master of Laws (LL.M.) Diploma in European Law and Computer and Communications Law (with focus on Data Protection) programmes from Queen Mary, University of London, earned in 2010.
She has been selected to play a key leadership role as a co-Chair of the Romania KnowledgeNet Chapter of the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP), fostering knowledge sharing of over 250 privacy professionals from Romania and enhancing community engagement through collaborative events (2025-26). She has also been selected as a Member of the Consultative Council of the Moldovan Data Protection Authority from 2011 to present.
